Dear World  Cup tourist,

Don´t face the tropical rip-off. Try to find cheap accommodation in Rio.

As the Reuters has published recently,  "World Cup tourists face sky-high prices in Brazil". With the economy growth, almost unbearable inflation for local people and obviously the spotlight being aimed at Brazil and specifically Rio de Janeiro, prices are up in the air.

It´s unbelievable, that during the last World Cup´s three days spending one night together with 3 other strangers sharing the same 4 bed room will cost a tourist on average 310 reais which means 82,68 pounds or exactly 100,79 euros. I insist: for one night.

But there is no way out because people DO make the effort and go there anyway.

So, I have decided to rent out my 2 spares rooms in Rio, hoping it can be a good deal for me and for the lovely foreign that dreams to spend a lovely June-July over there and not being ripped-off.

If anyone is interested, drop me a line at maridios@gmail.com.

Below, you'll find a sample of prices that hostels will be charging over the World Cup months. I've picked this from a Copacabana hostel website :

1 GBP (pound) = 4 Brazilian "reais".
310 Brazilian reais = 82 pounds
