Cost of living in Rio de Janeiro

Ok, people keep asking me how much it costs to live in Rio. So, here is the information.

It depends on the area, of course, and how comfortable you want to live, the type of building (if it is a simple one or a complex of many buildings with loads of services ranging from childcare to gym inside it. Yea, I know it´s very "original", I live in Belfast, Northern Ireland, where we have this Victorian houses and people don´t even live in buildings).

But ok, back to the point, a room in a shared flat in Copacabana/Botafogo area would range from 900 Brazilian Reais (BRL) to 1200 BRL montlhy for a reasonable middle class person.

The currency rate is around

3,20 BRL = 1 EUR
4,00 BRL = 1 GBP ( British pounds)

So let´s say 350 to 400 eur/ monthly should be enough to make it in terms of rent.
